How to set up Slack and Trello

Before you decide
Can we create a card from a message?
Not in this one; it runs into the chat. If a message should become a card, describe it and we price it.
How do we keep it quiet?
Name the lists and the moves worth posting. Everything else stays on the board.
Can different boards go to different channels?
Yes. Tell us which board goes where while connecting. One channel per team is the usual split, and it keeps each channel worth reading.
What happens to cards in lists we didn't name?
Nothing at all. Only the lists you nominate are watched, so a backlog holding three hundred cards never reaches the channel and nobody has to mute anything.
Do archived cards still post?
Archiving posts once, in the card's own thread, and then that card goes quiet. Nothing else about an archived card reaches the channel, which is how a board clean-up stays out of everyone's way.
Can Slack integrate with Trello?
Yes. New cards in the lists you watch, moves between the lists you name, the labels you nominate and finished checklists are posted to the Slack channel you choose, one thread per card. You paste a Slack bot token and a Trello key and token, and we switch it on; nothing is installed on the board. $39 a month.
How do I make a kanban board in Slack?
The board stays in Trello, which is built for it. What this pair puts in Slack is the board's movement: a card entering a list, moving to Review or Done, a label added, a checklist finished, each in the card's own thread. People who never open Trello still follow the work, and the people who do keep working there.
Anything to know about Slack?
The bot has to be invited to a channel before it can post there; that's one command in Slack.
Anything to know about Trello?
The token belongs to the member who created it, so cards appear as created by that person, and the connection stops if they leave the workspace.
