Shopify and Mailchimp, ready to switch on

Every paid order tags the buyer in Mailchimp with the collection they bought from, whether it's a first or a repeat order and whether it passed the sum you set, so a campaign goes to exactly the right people. You paste two keys in your account and it runs, in about ten minutes.

No setup fee, cancel any month, and a person on live chat if a key doesn't work.

Mailchimp for Shopify already syncs orders. Why this?

It does, and Mailchimp's help says it sends customer, order and product data to your audience for targeted campaigns. Most shops should start there. This pair is for the rules you want written your way: which tags, which merge fields, which sum counts as big, and consent switched off in Shopify when someone unsubscribes. If the built-in sync does what you need, we'll tell you.

How to set up Shopify and Mailchimp

Ten minutes of your time, then it's ours.

  1. Choose Shopify and Mailchimp
Press Connect. This pair is already selected on the checkout page at $39 a month, and there's nothing else to pick.
  2. Pay and open your account
Card or invoice, about two minutes. The account opens with this integration waiting for its two keys.
  3. Paste the Shopify Admin API access and the Mailchimp API key
    • Shopify Admin API access: in your Shopify admin open Settings, then Apps and sales channels, then Develop apps, and create an app. Full Shopify guide
    • Mailchimp API key: in Mailchimp open your profile icon, then Profile, then Extras, then API keys. Full Mailchimp guide
Each screen carries the full guide with the exact menu names, about seven minutes for both.
  4. We check both keys
Each key is checked against Shopify's and Mailchimp's own API the moment you paste it. If one doesn't pass, the screen says what to fix, and a person joins the chat if that isn't enough.
  5. Place one test order, then it's Running
A minute or two. Create a test order with your own email in Shopify and watch the tag land in Mailchimp. From then on we watch it for you.

When Shopify or Mailchimp changes its API, we fix it within a working day. You don't get a ticket to solve.

$39a month
  • Everything in the table above, with monitoring on.
  • Fixes when either app changes its API.
  • A person on live chat, replies within a working hour.
  • Custom logic beyond the table is priced separately.

Before you decide

What about customers who never ticked the marketing box?

They are never added. Consent is read from the customer on every order, so someone who ticks it later joins later, and someone who never did stays out.

Does it send any email?

No. It tags and fills fields. What goes out stays inside Mailchimp, with your own automations and your own unsubscribes.

Can Mailchimp be integrated with Shopify?

Yes. Mailchimp's own Shopify app syncs orders (above). This pair tags by your rules: every paid order tags the buyer with the collection, first or repeat, and whether it passed the sum you set, fills the last order date and lifetime total as merge fields, and switches marketing consent off in Shopify when someone unsubscribes. You paste a Shopify Admin API token and a Mailchimp API key; $39 a month.

How much does a Shopify Mailchimp integration cost?

$39 a month, flat, whatever the number of orders or the size of the audience. It covers everything in the table above, monitoring and fixes when Shopify or Mailchimp changes its API. Shopify and Mailchimp bill you separately on their own plans; nothing here changes that.

Anything to know about Shopify?

A custom app's Admin API token is shown once; if you lose it you create a new one from the same screen.

The data center is part of the key itself, the bit after the dash, so that one key is all we need to reach your account.

What if mine is a bit different?
