Google Sheets and Mailchimp, ready to switch on

A row you add joins the Mailchimp audience with the tags from your tag column, changing that cell changes the subscriber's tags, and every signup, unsubscribe and bounce shows on its own row, so a list kept in a spreadsheet stays true in both places. You paste two keys in your account and it runs, in about ten minutes.

No setup fee, cancel any month, and a person on live chat if a key doesn't work.

How to set up Google Sheets and Mailchimp

Ten minutes of your time, then it's ours.

  1. Choose Google Sheets and Mailchimp
Press Connect. This pair is already selected on the checkout page at $39 a month, and there's nothing else to pick.
  2. Pay and open your account
Card or invoice, about two minutes. The account opens with this integration waiting for its two keys.
  3. Paste the Google Sheets link and the Mailchimp API key
    • Google Sheets link: create or open the spreadsheet, share it with the address our engineer sends you or with anyone who has the link, and paste the link from the address bar. Full Google Sheets guide
    • Mailchimp API key: in Mailchimp open your profile icon, then Profile, then Extras, then API keys. Full Mailchimp guide
Each screen carries the full guide with the exact menu names, about four minutes for both.
  4. We check both keys
Each key is checked against Google Sheets's and Mailchimp's own API the moment you paste it. If one doesn't pass, the screen says what to fix, and a person joins the chat if that isn't enough.
  5. Add one test subscriber, then it's Running
A minute or two. Add a subscriber in Mailchimp and watch the row appear, then change a tag and watch the same row update.

When Google Sheets or Mailchimp changes its API, we fix it within a working day. You don't get a ticket to solve.

$39a month

  • Fixes when either app changes its API.
  • A person on live chat, replies within a working hour.
  • Custom logic beyond the table is priced separately.

Before you decide

Isn't there an add-on for this?

There are several in the Workspace Marketplace, and connector tools that sync a sheet with an audience. They need somebody to install and, often, to press sync. This pair runs on its own, both directions, with a person fixing it when either side changes. If an add-on does the job, use the add-on.

What about consent?

The sheet is your list, so consent is your responsibility, and we'd rather say that plainly. Adding addresses that never agreed to hear from you is how an audience gets flagged. The consent column gates who joins.

What if mine is a bit different?

Tell us what should go where in plain words. Small changes to the rules above are usually free; bigger ones we price the same day and build into the same account.
