Intercom and HubSpot, ready to switch on
The deal stage, plan and owner from HubSpot are written onto the Intercom contact so support knows who is asking, and every closed conversation lands on the HubSpot timeline with its rating. You paste two keys in your account and it runs, in about ten minutes.
No setup fee, cancel any month, and a person on live chat if a key doesn't work.
More with these apps: all Intercom integrations · all HubSpot integrations
Intercom already has a HubSpot app. Why this one?
It does, and if it fits you, keep it: Intercom's help page says it syncs new leads between the two, with their owners and qualification data, and logs conversations. This pair exists for the rules the app leaves to you: which stages become which tags, what counts as an escalation, what lands on the timeline. And when either side changes its API, a person fixes it rather than a ticket queue.
What moves, and when
The details you would normally get after a sales call. Here they are up front.
| What | Direction | When | Rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deal stage as a tag | HubSpot to Intercom | Within seconds | The stages you name become tags, so Trial and Customer look different in the inbox |
| Owner and plan on the contact | HubSpot to Intercom | Within seconds | Written as attributes, so an agent sees who sold it and what they bought before replying |
| Closed conversation onto the timeline | Intercom to HubSpot | When it closes | A note with the subject, the agent and the rating, so sales hears about a bad week before the renewal call |
| Escalation opens a ticket | Intercom to HubSpot | When the tag you choose is added | A HubSpot ticket linked to the contact, for the things support can't close on its own |
| Duplicate check | Both ways | Every change | Matched by email; Intercom leads without one are left alone until they identify themselves |

Ways to connect Intercom and HubSpot
Three ways people connect these two, and what each one asks of you. The built-in app is described above.
Before you decide
Can support see the deal amount?
Only if you want them to. Stage and owner go across by default; the amount is a field you can add or leave out while connecting.
Can agents answer from HubSpot?
No. The reply belongs in Intercom, where it is recorded against the customer. HubSpot gets the history and the ratings, which is what sales needs before a renewal call.
Which side owns the contact?
HubSpot, for names, owners and deal facts. Intercom, for the tags an agent adds by hand, which we never touch. Nothing here deletes or merges a contact on either side.
Anything to know about Intercom?
An access token belongs to one workspace, so a second workspace needs its own token.
Anything to know about HubSpot?
Private apps are available on the free CRM, so no paid plan is needed for the token.
What if mine is a bit different?
Tell us what should go where in plain words. Small changes to the rules above are usually free; bigger ones we price the same day and build into the same account.
